Strengthening the symbiome for the resilience of Olea europea to stressors

Through a microbial engineering approach, the use of omics methodologies and the olive tree as a model of perennial tree species of relevance for Mediterranean environments, the objectives are:
The taxonomic and functional characterization of the microbial communities associated with Olea europaea in conventional and organic cultivations
The selection of one or more consortia of functionally complementary microorganisms, with validated activity in the broad-spectrum protection of plants from abiotic and biotic stress (increase in ecosystem resilience)
The study of the molecular mechanisms underlying the plant's resistance/resilience to at least one biotic and abiotic stress factor in the presence and absence of such consortia. This is an applied and experimental research activity based on analyzes of recent literature and new conceptual formulations.
